What Is the Colorado EVTR Program?

The Colorado EVTR (Electronic Vehicle Title and Registration) program is a digital solution developed by the Colorado Department of Revenue (CDOR) and the Division of Motor Vehicles (DMV) that enables authorized dealers to use third-party providers to electronically submit applications for vehicle title and registration on behalf of their customers.

How EVTR Works

Dealership Submits to DTS

After a vehicle sale, dealers validate the deal information and electronically transmit the title and registration (including taxes and fees) directly to DTS.

DTS Submits to the State

DTS reviews each transaction to ensure accuracy and compliance. As long as no issues are found, DTS electronically submits the titlework to the state, which reviews it in 48 hours or less. DTS will remit the fees to the counties on behalf of the dealership.

State Processes Title

The state receives and processes the submission in 48 business hours or less, then issues a new title and/or registration. Registration documents and license plates are mailed directly to the buyer.
